Get Out and Vote

Time for a Change of Tactics

The Black Lives Matter movement has done wonders, but don’t rest on your laurels. The next step is the difficult one: fighting with the head, not the heart.

It is much easier to attract support for an emotional demonstration against the system than to persuade people to use their logic and work within it.

And in order to make progress, it is necessary for the civil rights movement to go back inside the system — namely, the voting system — to consolidate their gains.

This is especially true, considering the efforts being made to take people’s votes away from them.

Is This Any Change?

The system has been keeping blacks from voting for years by covert methods. It’s time to put that aside, because now one party has come out of hiding and is using overt methods to make voting difficult. Now is the time to pick your allies and support them, because the only other choice is a return to the bad old days.

Get Out and Vote

So, no matter what you think of the whole system, here’s your chance to change it for the better. I know it’s satisfying to protest, to take to the streets with your buddies and feel their support, but seeing the votes total up on election night could be more useful to your cause.

If blacks, Latinos and women got out and voted in this election, their combined power would be unassailable. Get Out and Vote.
