Democratic Party Convention Speeches

Hillary Clinton may or may not have made progress in the last three days. Here are some points to ponder.

The Conventions

Both conventions had a day of acrimony, where a vocal minority challenged the process and decisions of the convention, but with a great difference. With the Republicans, the rebels were mainstream party members. They were basically shouted down, leaving the party divided. With the Democrats, the rebels were supporters of Bernie Sanders. Their candidate got up and personally supported Clinton, thus joining the party together.

The Speakers

Michelle Obama made an impassioned speech that impressed everyone. And she supported Hillary. Bill Clinton made a wonderful speech with the purpose of rounding out the image the public has of Hillary. The problem for Hillary is that both these people made a far more effective speech than she ever makes. Did this help her or not? Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

The Future

The best outcome of the convention for the Democrats is the solution to their problem that I dealt with in my last post. While it may look like Clinton is taking as much heat as Trump, the level of magnitude of the respective charges is worlds apart. Hopefully now the undecided voters will realize that a whole lot of the unpleasant press about Clinton, that seemed to be coming from everywhere, was just the usual in-house battle. Once the convention is over and the Democrats come out unified, with Bernie Sanders campaigning for Hillary, perhaps the issues will become clearer, and the Democrats will be able to get their “Agent for Change” message out.

Face it. Clinton is an experienced politician concerned with doing a good job in a dirty business. Trump is a dirty politician with no experience concerned only with getting elected. Has anyone noticed?

And the big question everyone is talking about. Who will make the best First Spouse, Bill Clinton or Barack Obama?
